Agewise

About

The aim of AgeWise is to raise awareness of attitudes to ageing and older people among organisations whose work affects the lives of older people. From there, it encourages action on how ageism may be countered within organisations and workplaces.

Workshop structure

The aim of AgeWise is to raise awareness of attitudes to ageing and older people among organisations whose work affects the lives of older people. From there, it encourages action on how ageism may be countered within organisations and workplaces.

Workshops can be delivered to groups of up to twenty-four people and are delivered by one trained Age & Opportunity Facilitator.

Am I the right person?

It is an ideal workshop for everyone whose work affects the lives of older people. If older people are among your customers, your clients or your users, this workshop can help you. AgeWise can be tailored to suit the needs of your organisation around business needs, policy analysis or equality frameworks.

What does the workshop cover?

The workshop enables participants to:

  • Understand the personal, cultural and structural effects of ageism
  • Identify instances of discrimination against older people
  • Devise strategies to counter age discrimination in their workplace or community.

It made me look at older people in a different, more positive light. It has made me realise that I needed to change my 'us and them' attitude, AgeWise participant

We can deliver AgeWise to groups on-site in your organisation or here at Age & Opportunity’s, Marino Institute of Education campus, Griffith Avenue, Dublin.
